Nathalie Rade, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Meet Nathalie Rade, NP - Video
Behavioral Health Interests:
My interest is in psychiatry. I have always been fascinated with the brain and how its circuitry intertwines with our soul to make us who we are. Mental illness and its treatment makes me think of a 10,000-piece puzzle. It takes time and attention to detail to complete. You can’t always see the whole picture in the beginning, but if you keep working at it, little by little the picture emerges and the patient is on their way to living a life of quality their illness didn’t let them believe was possible.
When do you first recall wanting a career in medicine?
I was 17, and I had just enlisted in the Army as a mental health specialist. I loved it from day one. I knew then that I wanted to keep working with the mentally ill. I wanted to help those who were suffering, trapped in their own minds, break free. It’s an honor to be a part of each client's journey to mental health.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I chose to work in the field of mental health because I knew I would always love what I do. I love talking to people and hearing their stories. I’m always learning in this field. New studies and medications seem to come out daily. It’s very interesting.
What do you like to do outside of Crossing Healthcare?
Outside of work, my kids are my life. I have a 10, 3, and 1 year old who keep me very busy. I love to be outside on adventures discovering new places and new things to do with my family. Reading is another one of my favorite pastimes, along with working in my yard.
