Nakita Cook, FNP-C
When do you first recall wanting a career in medicine?
At the age of five I would accompany my grandmother to dialysis and sit with her during her treatments, so I guess there was some interest back then. It wasn’t until I had my first child that I absolutely knew I wanted to take care of people. I received such good care during my pregnancy by the doctors and nurses it left a lasting impression. I thought to myself “this is how I want to help people”.
Why did you choose your specialty?
I worked at Crossing Healthcare as Registered Nurse prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. So the decision to stay and serve our patient population was not a difficult one. I feel blessed that I get to do what I love and have it benefit people in my community
What do you like to do outside of Crossing Healthcare?
Spending time with family, especially my children. I also like to read and try new recipes.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget the way you made them feel”
